A quick look at Leslie Brown's work divulges years of anatomical and figurative study bound in a mystical, metaphoric nature. The work communicates complex images based on highly emotional responses to her vision of understanding and the empowering of the feminine and the divine in art, not as a feminist but as a spiritualist. The act of image making for her is a naturally dynamic and completely intuitive experience that gives the viewer a sophisticated glimpse into complex images that are rooted in vision during a meditative state or dream. The works begin to immerse into the collective experience and ego dissolves in spontaneity, form and color
Although the monumental scale pieces appear to have a narrative quality they are by no means literal in interpretation. The evolution of the work has more to do with the reflection of life experiences that are simultaneously usual and unordinary, synchronistic and sacred in nature.
